In general, the term natural cosmetics refers to those cosmetics that are made from more natural raw materials and are therefore more gentle on people and the environment than conventional cosmetics. Non-natural ingredients such as polyethylene glycol (PEG), silicones, parabens, synthetic fragrances, paraffins and other petroleum products are therefore excluded. When it comes to her company, Martina Gebhardt defines the term natural cosmetics even more narrowly, because all of her products come from biodynamic cultivation - and are therefore Demeter-certified. What does that mean? Demeter works according to strict guidelines that go back to Rudolf Steiner's agricultural course in 1924," explains Martina Gebhardt. "The Demeter cosmetic guidelines are considered the strictest regulations for high-quality organic products worldwide." Customers who are looking for mild, very well-tolerated and sustainable care products made from biodynamic Demeter raw materials particularly value these products.

This association keeps people and their needs in mind and becomes the Demeter-International currently has 18 members and five guest members from Europe, Asia, America, Africa and New Zealand. Demeter-International stands for around 5,000 producers with over 170,000 hectares of cultivated land in over 50 countries. Demeter is not only about doing business in harmony with nature, but also with the cosmos Seeding, harvesting and production take the course of the stars, such as the sun and moon, into account. Paracelsus, Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, and Rudolf Steiner have examined this in a variety of ways and have shown people ways in which they can use these energetic states for their own benefit in biodynamic farming through many years of research (DOK experiments). prove.

The Demeter guidelines for natural cosmetics specify that at least 66% of the ingredients are from controlled biodynamic cultivation. The remaining ingredients must be of organic quality. Exceptions: water, minerals, salt and emulsifier. We are the only natural cosmetics manufacturer in the world that offers 100% of the products in Demeter quality.

Cosmetics without animal testing

Rabbit with protective hand – The strictest seal for cosmetics without animal testing
Valid for Martina Gebhardt Natural Cosmetics and SENSISANA Natural Cosmetics

The seal "Bunny with the protective hand", which MG Naturkosmetik also relies on, is awarded by the International Manufacturers' Association of Animal Welfare-Tested Natural Cosmetics, Cosmetics and Natural Products (IHTN) and introduced as an internationally registered trademark in 1979. This seal was created specifically for the cosmetics industry, with the main focus on natural cosmetics, but also for decorative cosmetics as well as detergents and cleaning products. Companies whose products bear this seal produce in accordance with strict guidelines. The basic requirement for this seal is production without animal testing. No product may contain raw materials obtained from animals for which an animal was killed or tortured. In addition, companies must submit a fully detailed list of raw materials with supplier information and fully disclose the ingredients of their products on the products themselves or in the catalogs.

If you want to be on the safe side when it comes to natural cosmetics, you should rely on certified natural cosmetics. The natural cosmetics company Martina Gebhardt relies on high-quality Demeter certification and the renowned IHTN seal: The “rabbit with a protective hand” guarantees that all products with this seal are 100 percent cruelty-free. Basically, every natural cosmetic that is certified with a seal must follow the guidelines of this seal. Depending on the seal, the guidelines look different, which means that permitted ingredients and animal testing are regulated separately by each seal.

Even at MG Naturkosmetik, not all products are vegan. Many creams contain animal products such as beeswax, honey or wool fat as a natural emulsifier. They are therefore natural and vegetarian, but not vegan. However, all tonics, lotions, cleansers, masks, oils and the new dental care series are 100 percent vegan and do not contain any ingredients of animal origin. However, the IHTN seal guarantees that all products, whether vegan or vegetarian, are produced without any animal testing.

Animal testing and the marketing of products tested on animals have been prohibited in the EU since 2009 in accordance with Article 18 of Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009.
